The last few months have brought lots of change to Navigate, and to the world we all share.
We’re celebrating and enjoying the much needed growth of our team – Roz, Jana and Sarri joined the team in December 2019! Since then we’ve been busy exploring new ways of working together. To find out a bit more about them, have a look at our ‘who we are’ page.

What an opportunity to work with people who are truly invested in and passionate about what they do and who have incredible experience and skills to share! Another thing we’re celebrating is that we’ve finally made the move to a new website making it,much easier to share our resource lists with you! You can find them on the resources page – and we’ll be adding to them and refining them as time goes by.
Of course, there have been huge changes outside of Navigate too. As the Covid-19 situation develops worldwide, we’re adapting what we’re offering to online settings. We’re exploring what the groups we work with most need to be effective and healthy during this crisis and how those things will continue to support us all to work collaboratively, equitably and caring for the needs of all life in the future. We’re still keen to hear from you, but do please be advised that we can’t commit to ‘in person’ meetings until social distancing measures are no longer necessary.

We offer our work for free to unfunded grassroots groups and for groups with an income we have a sliding scale, meaning you pay what you can afford. Contact us for more details on this.

This training of trainers aims to support activist-trainers who want to develop and deliver trainings on sustainable activism and are interested in the approach developed within the Sustaining Resistance project. Through the training we will share experience and offer a range of tools and methods, both personal and collective that can support people to make their activism more effective and sustainable. The training will provide space to design and deliver sessions and receive feedback from peers.

The class system is embedded in all of our lives and its not surprising that when we organise for social and environmental justice in our groups and networks that the same class oppressions are often perpetuated. This one day workshop aims to give space to reflect on our own experience of class, to build awareness of how class oppressions are reproduced in our groups and what we can do to change that, so that we can create stronger and more effective groups and movements for social change.
Finding Collaboration in Conflict: Exploring Convergent Facilitation as a process for making difficult decisions in groups

Would you like to learn how to facilitate groups that are stuck in disagreement to move forwards?
Do you want to better support groups to come up with decisions that work for everyone?
In this 3-day training, we will be exploring a process called Convergent Facilitation and learning how to facilitate effective collaborative decision-making. Convergent Facilitation is a method for bringing a group to decisions that everyone supports, by going into the disagreement and finding a way forward that includes what really matters to everyone involved.
Over the past few months we ran taster workshops in Sheffield, Manchester, Bristol and London, covering these topics: Power dynamics, when decision-making gets stuck, sustaining ourselves, and conflict in groups. We chose topics that many groups are struggling with, so we hope these workshops offered some insight and support.

A residential Training for Trainers in ‘connection-work’ (verbindingswerk), exploring the Work that Reconnects, integrating an anti-oppression framing and marginalized perspectives, whilst building your facilitation skills and confidence

Almost all groups have moments when they’re going round in circles while trying to make a decision. This can feel like a waste of time, and can drain the group of its energy. Sometimes people resign themselves to this way of working, but it doesn’t have to be like this! There are ways to get out of this stuck place, and into making decisions that work for everyone.
10th April & 16th May
Conflict in a group can be profoundly challenging; like wading through a swamp, or like a whirlwind pulling everyone in and tearing things apart. Though conflict can be intensely painful, it’s possible to find ways through it together. Conflict can be a sign that change is needed, and engaging with it can help a group to have more resilience, strength and energy for action.
Responding to sexual violence in our groups and communities: Facing discomfort and creating genuinely safer spaces
What can you do when someone in your group or organisation says that someone else within the group has been sexually violent  or abusive to them? What if that person is central to the group, is really nice to you, seems to have a great analytical understanding of power and privilege – surely they wouldn’t. It can feel confusing, uncomfortable and sometimes painful to take those claims seriously but it’s important that we do. Drawing on my own experience of supporting other survivors and of disclosing to my own community, here are some things you might want to think about.
