Navigate Co-operative is looking to hire a Project Coordinator for a new Radical Democracy Project. SUMMARY
Salary
£32k pro rata - £25,600 for 4 x 7.5 hour days per week (including half an hour paid lunch break)
Eight weeks paid holiday per year (pro rata). This role would get 32 days of holiday per year. Navigate doesn’t automatically include bank holidays as holiday.
All Navigate employees and co-directors receive the same salary and holiday allowance.
Location
- UK based. Mix of remote and face to face work.
- Face to face meetings and longer work retreats in the South West (often Stroud) - monthly ish, possibly more regularly.
Contract
- This is a 12 month Parental Leave Cover post, which Navigate hopes to extend dependent on securing funding.
- 4 days a week (Mon-Thurs with flexibility). We are open to discussing this, please highlight any requests when applying.
- 6 month seeing-if-it-fits period.
The Project You’d Be Coordinating
The overall aim of this work is to create radically democratic decision making systems at scale, which can support us in facing the various crises already happening and on the horizon.
In the short-term - over the next year - we are planning on running prototype processes that demonstrate the potential for collaborative, participatory, integrative citizen decision making, on divisive issues. As well as continuing to prepare the ground for scaling up in the future.
The premise of this work is that we can abolish human deprivation, provide decent food, housing, healthcare for all, restore landscapes, take meaningful action to mitigate and adapt to the climate crisis etc., if we had meaningful democracy, where we collectively make and enact the decisions that determine our future.
Objectives of the Role
The main objectives of this role are to:
- Project manage one or two prototype collaborative decision making processes - with a focus on building relationships, communications, and logistics.
- Contribute to the overall development of the project.
There is potential to:
- Work on fundraising for the project.
- Be involved in articulation and communication of the project.
